Custom Lacrosse Socks

Lacrosse as a sport has its origins in the sports played by the Aborigines. The game is quite similar to the racquet and ball games and also field hockey but that is where the similarity ends.

Lacrosse – The Game

The game might be one of the inventions of the Aborigines (not of Australia, but native America) but today, it is one of the most popular sports in America. There are lacrosse teams which have a world appeal; it is quite a physical game. The racquet is known as the lacrosse stick or simply the Crosse. A mesh is knitted to the frame quite similar to the frame of the tennis racquet but in this case, the strings are loosely strung. These ‘loose’ natures are to help ‘catch’ and ‘carry’ the ball and pass it to your other team member. In this way, the pass is continued until the team gets a goal. It is a fixed time game and like football or hockey, the team with the maximum goals wins!

This sport requires lots of agility and is quite fast. The men’s lacrosse is often more fiercer from the women’s lacrosse (obviously!). However, there is one more version of the game known as the box lacrosse. There are 10 members in a team including the goal keeper and a full body contact is allowed like rugby or American football! This sport is a mixture of rugby, American football, tennis, field hockey, etc. There might be more associations, but can be safely skipped for the moment.

Lacrosse Clothing

The lacrosse clothing needs to be really tough but light and flexible at the same time to allow full body movement and should not hinder an athlete’s movement. The international lacrosse federation specifies rules related to clothing as well as accessories. Socks are also an important part of the game. Lacrosse needs custom made socks; socks which are quite tough. Sometimes the level of fiber strength of the lacrosse socks is compared to the football socks which are arguably one the toughest and lightest socks on the planet! A lot of research goes into the knitting and fiber selection of the socks used in lacrosse or in any other sport.

For laymen, there might be no difference between sports socks but in actual there is lot of difference. And the difference is not just restricted to size of the socks. There are basically two types of lacrosse socks that are available – tube and crew length. While the tube length is more common, the crew length is often experimented with. Like football, the tube length also houses the shin guards (earlier). These days, the shin guards have been discontinued as hitting on the shins is a foul. Therefore, the length of the socks has been tailored to the custom crew length like tennis. customized socks with logo
