Explosion Proof Stainless Steel Ball Valves – Positioner
Automated valves are mechanical devices used to control fluid, gas, vapors, and other substances in a system or process. The valves are controlled by either a pneumatic actuator or an electric actuator.
When choosing a valve it is important to consider how the valve will be operated and what environment it will be in. Brass ball valves are a good choice for many applications, but stainless steel is more durable in harsh environments and will last longer than brass. In addition, stainless steel will not rust and does not pose health risks in food or beverage applications, whereas brass is not FDA approved for these uses.
The 304 stainless steel body of this valve is made in one piece, which means that there are no joints for leaking to occur. This is called a full port ball valve and allows for the ID of the pipe to remain constant.
These valves come with a blowout proof stem and seats and seals made from PTFE also known as Teflon, which is compatible with most materials. All of the parts that touch the product being transported are made from 316 Stainless Steel (CF8M).
This is an easy to use ball valve with the added feature of being able to be remotely positioned. The positioner is built into the valve with a characterized cam and feedback shaft to provide mechanical feedback. There are linear, equal percentage, and quick opening operation cam profiles available as well as a blank profile cam for custom applications. The positioner is explosion proof Class 1, Div 1 with a 4-20mA input control signal. The internal microprocessor and closed loop feedback system monitors the position of the actuator and ensures it will not move if power is lost, keeping it in its last know position.
